More about Beecholme

Beecholme is also the first postwar "mixed development" housing scheme in Hackney, with a mixture of houses and flats with the taller block having five storeys and containing one-bedroom and bedsit accommodation. It is featured in Volume 15 of Hackney History and was the site of Beecholme House, the family home of Maj. John André (d. 1780), who was executed as a British spy in the American War of Independence.

More bin artwork visuals

Beecholme's bins
I've just spent some 5 hours selecting "creative commons" shots and free shots
and putting a few into Photoshop visuals (below).

I have a few more to do so look out for them in the next day or two.

The spiky plant in the post below has been approved for use under
the tall block, but it has been left to my better judgement
for the choice of artwork for the remaining 7 bins.

If you have any particular favourites, please let me know.

Including a £20 poster artwork offer
plus
a selection of art posters and signed, limited edition prints
starting at £35 on up to £130 for an A1 poster/print.

There's also very cheap printing for non-profit groups.

New bin artwork approved

This one above will be the first to be done. That is, both sides under the tall block.
It is just a visual (photoshop) but the final should be very close.
It was approved by a majority at tonight's TRA meeting.

The two directly above may be used for other bins around the estate.
I'll make a decision once the topmost is done.
The choice was left to me as the graphic artist producing the work.

(click on poster to see it full size)

NEXT eTRA MEETING
Wed 21st Jan 2009 at 7pm

The next meeting of the tenants & residents association is an "enhanced" one.
That is to say, it is one of the quarterly ones that council, Hackney Homes and Pinnacle officers attend. At the Alf Partridge Community Hall on the corner of Prout & Casimir Rds.

GREAT NEWS! BIKE SHELTER GOES AHEAD!

UPDATE 20 Jan 09
The info below is basically correct except it may take
a little longer than expected to go ahead
as the "approved contractor" I got quotes from is no longer
on the list so more quotes have to be asked for from one that is.

We have finally got the OK from Hackney Homes for the EIB partial funding needed for the bike shelter. The rest of the funds we already have from the Tenants Levy Special Projects Grant.

That means the bike shelter should go in within the next few weeks.
It is already over subscribed but you are welcome to add your name to the list.

BIN stick-on artwork news

Below are a couple of my latest visuals for the bin artwork.
I have used photos I took at our last estate day out to Kew Gardens.
I will be going over the design of each bin around the estate at the next meeting so if you have an idea or something to say that is the ideal time.

.... thank you and have a good new year.
