As secretary of the B&C TRA I am in the process of applying for a grant from
Comic Relief Local Communities Programme
for funds to buy two or three laptops, each with a years mobile internet (and a printer, plus a small projector), so that residents without a computer or internet connection can get online and for those residents who haven't tried it yet to do so - and I know there are quite a few of you.
For those residents with absolutely no experience and especially elderly residents, (assuming we get the grant) I will walk you through "surfing the internet" and sending emails in five minutes - in the community hall or in your own home - it really is that easy - much easier than you think!
Once you are confident, you can book to use the laptop in your own home for as many hours as needed, as often as needed - within reason and depending on demand.

About the Local Communities Programme grant
Purpose
The programme aims to empower local people, enabling them to create lasting change in their communities. Projects should be run by local people directly affected by the issues they are dealing with and priority will be given to small,locally based groups and organisations in areas of disadvantage that have a clear understanding of the needs of their community. You can apply for funding to: increase local services; build skills of local people; increase community cohesion; respond to local economic needs; increase access to sport and exercise for people who face social exclusion and isolation.
