More about Beecholme

Beecholme is also the first postwar "mixed development" housing scheme in Hackney, with a mixture of houses and flats with the taller block having five storeys and containing one-bedroom and bedsit accommodation. It is featured in Volume 15 of Hackney History and was the site of Beecholme House, the family home of Maj. John André (d. 1780), who was executed as a British spy in the American War of Independence.

To order a supply of compostable brown sacks please call
the recycling hotline on 020 8356 6688.

If you would prefer to home compost your garden waste, Hackney Council offers a range of heavily subsidised compost bins which are delivered direct to your door. Alternatively, if you do not produce garden waste on a regular basis, up to five bags can be collected four times a year free of charge from your property via the bulky waste service. This waste will be put aside on the load and recycled. Bulky waste collections can be arranged via the recycling hotline.

If you have any questions please phone the recycling hotline on 020 8356 6688 or visit www.hackney.gov.uk/recycling.

Kind regards,

Recycling Team
