More about Beecholme


Beecholme is also the first postwar "mixed development" housing scheme in Hackney, with a mixture of houses and flats with the taller block having five storeys and containing one-bedroom and bedsit accommodation. It is featured in Volume 15 of Hackney History and was the site of Beecholme House, the family home of Maj. John André (d. 1780), who was executed as a British spy in the American War of Independence.

Objection deadline effectively extended *
"comments" still being accepted

*Ian Bailey will accept further objections until the app is decided, 
which, if it goes to the planning committee
can not be before early March.
Of course, the application (2009/2490) may be decided without going to committee.

In the meantime keep spreading the word
and getting those objections in. 

Up to 16th Jan there have been 70 letters of objection sent in
and 186 on the electronic petition and 326 on a written petition
= total of 582 objection up to 16 Jan alone.
